ARMSTRONG LEIGH
The story of Armstrong Leigh is still only in the early chapters, but it's already become a fully action packed adventure. In less than a year since officially joining forces, the Austin based duo, composed of Michelle Armstrong and Cristopher Leigh, have won over audiences with appearances across Texas and beyond. Having already completed Austin residencies at Holy Mountain and Lambert's Barbeque, showcasing at SXSW and performing in support of Albert Hammond Jr. (The Strokes) and Vance Joy, the pair have just released their debut single while continuing to pack the summer full of live dates, including tours on both coasts before finally returning back to Austin.
Cristopher Leigh, formerly of Electric Touch (Island Records), and Michelle Armstrong had met years earlier while sharing the stage as members of different bands, but it wouldn't be until one fateful Bruce Springsteen concert that the two would join together over the shared vision of lyrically lead melodic rock. Now, having made the legendary Arlyn Studios (Willie Nelson, Gary Clark Jr.) their recording home, the Armstrong Leigh sound is truly starting to find its groove. As the powerful, yet sensual qualities of Michelle's vocal performance coupled with Cristopher's signature guitar hooks create an almost hypotonic effect, it's the melodic power of the two together the really pulls you in to become a part of the music.
They are heading back to Arlyn Studios in August to record a complete EP and will be heading out to support the release around the US this fall. Keep an eye and ear open as Armstrong Leigh will shortly be storming onto the scene near you.
